Rectified Sewage System

Rectification Works to Existing Sewage Systems

WCI Ltd holds a great wealth of experience in the rectification and upgrade of existing sewage treatment systems. Where possible we reuse or modify existing system components saving you money!

Rectification of an existing system can be necessary for a number of reasons including poor maintenance, historical wear and tear, incorrectly designed or installed plant, changed in land use, a lack of secondary treatment or an increase in property or bedroom numbers causing the system to be undersized.

Conversion of Existing Septic Tank to Aeration Unit

It is not always necessary or cost effective to replace existing sewage systems. Often part or all of the existing structure can be used in the new system, reducing overall costs and maintaining continuity of drainage. A common example is the continued use of an existing block or brick built septic tank. With the addition of a new fibreglass sewage treatment unit, or reed bed cell, installed on the backend the septic tank effluent is now treated to a level where it can be legally discharged into the environment. Other examples include the upgrade of an existing distributor by carrying out a media change, installing a recycle facility or converting the structure to a reed bed.

Please note: It is illegal to discharge septic tank effluent directly to a ditch or water course without any form of secondary treatment. Equally if the level of treatment from a sewage treatment plant is insufficient, the system will fail to achieve the standards dictated by the EA, and the owner will be exposed to possible prosecution, monetary fines and bad publicity.
